Kaspersky AntiVirus 7.0 - comprehensive anti-virus protection.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0Kaspersky AntiVirus 7.0 - comprehensive anti-virus protection.

Email protection. Your email is secure no matter which email program you use because Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 scans email traffic in real-time: POP3, IMAP and NNTP for outgoing mail and SMTP for incoming mail. Moreover, Kaspersky Anti-Virus comes with plug-ins and disinfection routines for email databases for popular email programs such as Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express.

Real-time Internet traffic scanning. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 scans all HTTP Internet traffic in real-time no matter which browser you use. Malicious programs are detected before they are able to infect your computer. You can use the Internet for business or pleasure and still be secure.

On-access and on-demand file scanning. You can scan any and all areas on your computer from individual files to drives to removable storage media. You can also chose to scan only critical areas such as start up objects, which are a favorite target for virus writers.

Security for your data

Prevents criminals from harvesting your data. Many of today’s Trojans and keyloggers are designed to send your data to third parties without your knowledge or consent. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 detects and destroys such programs, making sure that your data stays where it belongs until you decide to share it.

Rollback of malicious changes. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 monitors system and application behavior for suspicious behavior. Once malicious behavior is detected, the process is blocked and all of the changes are rolled back, leaving you with a clean system and your original data intact.

Stability and critical protection

Rescue disk. Creating a rescue disk is quick and easy using the built in wizard in Kaspersky Anti-Virus. If your computer is ever attacked by a virus, you can restore and disinfect your system right away by yourself using the rescue disk you created even if the operating system has been damaged.

Self-protection. Today virus writers begin their attack on your computer by disabling anti-virus protection. Kaspersky Anti-Virus is designed to block all attempts to disable protection, leaving you to work and play securely.

Simple and Convenient

Quick installation and configuration. Express installation takes only a few minutes of your time. The default settings have been configured to provide best performance and best security, so you only need to install the program and can immediately return to your usual activities. If you enjoy customizing your security, the solution has extensive and flexible configuration options that will allow you to adjust the settings exactly as you like.

Minimal load on your system. A range of technologies ensures that you get the best out from your computer and stay secure: only new and changed files are scanned in real-time; scanning is paused if your other activities require additional resources; default settings for real-time monitoring ensure maximum performance.

Automatic hourly updates. Kaspersky Anti-Virus checks for updates on Kaspersky Lab servers regularly. In case of virus outbreaks the checks are more frequent. All updates are downloaded and installed automatically. You don’t need to worry about a thing.

CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2008 Review

CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2008 Review

Computer Associates came with their latest and better edition of CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2008 to propose a step forward in quality and features. Besides firewall, antivirus, antispyware, antispam, and parental control, the suite now contains data migration and a Web site inspector to identify malicious sites.

One thing you should be aware of is that, at install, CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2008 offers to set up the Yahoo! toolbar and make Yahoo! your default search engine which together with CA’s own Web site Inspector causes your browser to be kind of top-heavy.

The present firewall is obviously much better than what CA presented last year when it swapped from ZoneAlarm's one to its Tiny Personal Firewall but improvement is still to be had.
According to PCMAG, CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2008 passed most of the port-scanning tests but failed the Gibson Research's ShieldsUp (CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2008 leaving from two to four less-used ports closed but not stealthed ). Opposite to using NIS 2008 or Panda Internet Security 2008’s modern styles of program control, the CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2008 user has to decide every time a program attempts to connect to the Internet whether to permit it.

Though it did not survive to fake mouse-clicks attack as Kaspersky and Norton products did, CA's new version security system still showed high protective measures. The firewall offers a wide range of additional features -- it can guard against malicious attachments from incoming e-mail and watch outgoing mail for behaviors, it can also block cookies, ads and script, having the ability to prevent the sending of predefined personal data in e-mail or over the Web.

As PCMAG described it, using client-side attacks from the Core Impact penetration testing utility proved itself worthy in revealing some of CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2008 vulnerabilities in the suite's protection system which recommends Norton Internet Security 2008 as a better candidate to your security needs.

Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007

Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007

“Kaspersky Security 6.0 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 (hereinafter referred to as Kaspersky Security) is designed for protection of mailboxes, public folders and relayed e-mail located on Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 (hereinafter Microsoft Exchange Server) against malicious programs.

Kaspersky Security performs the following functions:

  • Scans and analyzes incoming and outgoing e-mail messages for the presence of malicious objects. This analysis processes the bodies and attachments of e-mail messages. Depending on the settings configured, the application will disinfect or delete malicious objects, or will add a warning message to the e-mail message;

  • Saves backup copies of the message objects before attempting to disinfect or delete the object (during an anti-virus scan), copies are saved to a special location to enable consequent restoration if necessary. Configurable filters allow easy retrieval of the copied objects;

  • Notifies the sender, the recipient and the system administrator about messages that contain malicious objects;

  • Maintains the event log and creates regular reports about the operation of the application, and the status of the anti-virus protection. The application generates reports using templates with a preset level of detail and at a required interval or upon request.

  • Detects virus outbreaks as they begin, automatically takes required emergency steps and notifies about such events. The application identifies attempts of mass-mailing infected messages both from the Internet and from computers within the corporate network.

  • Supports configuration of application settings depending on the intensity and the nature of network traffic, as well as the characteristics of the hardware installed (amount of RAM, speed, number of processors, etc.);

  • Updates the databases of Kaspersky Security (further - databases) either automatically or in manual mode. The databases can be updated from Kaspersky Lab's FTP and HTTP updates servers, or from a lo-cal/network folder that contains the latest set of updates.

  • Scans old (previously scanned) messages for the presence of new viruses according to a schedule. This task is performed as a background scan and has a small effect on the mail server‘s performance;

  • Creates a list of protected storage areas, which offers additional flexibility in regards with license restrictions on the number of protected mailboxes;

  • Manages license keys.

  • Security Server updates the anti-virus database, provides administrative services for remote management, configuration and ensures the integrity of the application and of the data stored.

  • Management Console provides the user interface for managing the application‘s administrative services, and enables you to configure settings and manage the server component. The management module is implemented as an extension of the Microsoft Management Console.
